「What about us」でBrandyのことを知ったのが、もう6年も前。
正直あの時は衝動買いで、RBというジャンルをよく理解していなかったので、"キャッチー"で"ポップ"がすべてだと思っていました。
そんな彼女のレーベル移籍後初のアルバム「Ｈｕｍａｎ」
リードシングルはRodney "Darkchild" Jerkinsがプロデュース、Rihanna「S.O.S」で注目を集めたのソングライターEvan "Kidd" Bogartが作曲した「Right Here (Departed)」。
聞き始め、 5秒で鳥肌が立ちました。
クリアで透き通るようなボーカル、見事なコーラスワーク、さすがロドニー・ジャーキンス！とも呼べる良質のリードトラックに仕上がってます。
正直、「FUll moon」以降のアルバムは、購入せずに視聴のみで済ましてしまったのですが、Brandyのポテンシャルを思い知らされました。
新たな傑作と呼べるアルバムの予感がしました。
...どうしよう、買おうかな。。。
